And today, it turns out that Chinese electronics company Meizu is the latest to join the trend, announcing that it wants to launch its first foldable smartphone by the end of 2023.
Meizu vice president Huang Zhipan has reportedly announced that the company will launch its first foldable smartphone by the end of 2023. Although no details about the product have been announced, the foldable smartphone is expected to be included in the Meizu product range. provides consumers with a wider variety of options to choose from.
Meizu has focused heavily on smartphones and portable accessories in the past, but the brand’s smartphone business has been relatively quiet lately. Meizu 18, the company’s last major smartphone release, was launched in 2021. However, Meizu is now gearing up to launch a new flagship series known as the Meizu 20.
The Meizu 20 series should include two smartphones – Meizu 20 and Meizu 20 Pro. It has been reported that the Pro models will be equipped with a 10-bit Samsung E6 LTPO AMOLED display with 1440p resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. It may have a 50 MP primary camera with optical image stabilization and a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 50 W wireless charging and 80 W wired charging.
Also, Meizu 20 Pro was spotted on AnTuTu with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, Android 13, 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The launch date of the new series is currently unknown. The model range may appear in the spring of this year.
