In Spain, women’s mobilization showed its strength again five years after the first feminist strike. However, the 8M march was divided into two blocks that went in opposite directions due to the approval of the Transgender Law, which is rejected by the feminist sector, according to the digital newspaper www.eldiario.es.

EFE reported that anti-Trans Law activist groups interrupted the Spanish government’s institutional act to celebrate 8M. During the invasion, they chided Equality Minister Irene Montero, whom they accused of “manipulating” a group of women to support said norm.

In Morocco, dozens of Moroccans demonstrated this Wednesday in the city of Rabat to demand the decriminalization of abortion, adultery and extramarital affairs, and demand that women have equal access to inheritance.

In Iran, despite several late-night demonstrations, local media have been covering new cases of drunkenness and poisoning of female students, a crisis that has been going on for two weeks and has hundreds of victims.

In Sri Lanka, women’s rights activists held a rally in the city of Colombo with posters and banners on the occasion of International Women’s Day in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

In San Salvador, human rights activists, transgender people and feminists held a march to protest the disappearance of women and police abuse by the state.

Feminist groups from Costa Rica took to the streets of San José to demand women’s rights on International Women’s Day.

Also in Panama, feminist organizations held a demonstration under the slogan “Let’s make our struggle visible.”

In Brazil, there have been massive demonstrations in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo demanding their rights, equal pay, gender equality and to protest against the growing violence against women in that country.

In France, protests over International Women’s Day have been mixed with opposition to a pension reform that would raise the retirement age for women by two years.

Left-wing parliamentarians have warned that the reform will widen disparities between men and women, as women’s careers are cut short more often than men’s by discrimination, pregnancy and part-time work.

In Croatia, conservative groups tried to overshadow the International Day march by kneeling and praying in Zagreb’s main square, demanding a ban on abortion and demanding “decency in women’s clothing”.
