In the last few years, the virtual reality segment has taken a significant step forward. It’s worth the launch of Oculus Quest 2, bought by millions of players worldwide.

Against this background, a research team from Carnegie Mellon University has developed a new technology for VR. With its help, they learned to send acoustic energy to the player’s mouth, thereby creating haptic feedback. According to experts, this has further immersed users in virtual reality.

It is reported that ultrasonic pulses can be sent to simulate a single touch, pulses, oscillations and vibrations. Both the teeth and the lipped tongue can sense all this.

Experts believe the new technology could be used to mimic the feeling of drinking from a fountain, smoking, and brushing teeth. It’s also great for making the player feel like a wind blowing while riding a motorcycle.
