Anyone with a Google One subscription can now use VPN access. A more expensive formula is no longer necessary.

Freelancers or private individuals who have additional storage space in the cloud with Google One can now enjoy unlimited VPN access. Previously, you had to opt for at least the 2 TB option, which costs 9.99 euros per month. If you now have the basic version (100 GB) for 1.99 euros per month, you can also enjoy the additional VPN function. Both prices include the statutory VAT.

You can only activate the VPN if you are in these 22 countries. Belgium and the Netherlands are on the list, Luxembourg is not. If you want to activate the function there, you will receive a message that this is not possible.

You can use the VPN mobile on Android and iOS, but also on Mac and PC. Unlike other paid VPN services, you don’t get to choose which country you want to set up a virtual tunnel to. The VPN focuses on increased user security and does not bypass country borders to display geographically specific content.

Google advertises the VPN as a secure, private connection when working at public Wi-Fi points like coffee shops or airports. Since the focus is on that, you can’t choose the final destination of your VPN.

You can share a Google One subscription with up to five members. VPN access is available to any of these members. The feature is currently being rolled out worldwide. It may take up to two weeks for the feature to be available on your devices.
