OpenAI, developer of the popular ChatGPT, among other things, is working with GPT-4 on a successor to the current AI model. Microsoft previously announced it would quickly integrate ChatGPT-4 into its algorithms after investing $10 billion in the company.

The AI ​​model GPT-4 could be available sooner than expected. Andreas Braun, CTO of Microsoft Germany, announced at a local event that he would like to present GPT-4 together with OpenAI next week (via Heise).

“We want to bring multimodal models onto the market that offer completely different options, such as videos.” He finds the current development of Large Language Models (LLMs) break new ground because they teach machines to understand natural language.

“LLMs statistically understand what was previously only human-readable and understandable. The technology is so advanced today that it actually works in all languages. You can ask a question in German and ask for an Italian answer.”

Microsoft emphasizes during the German event that it does not use customer data to train models. The fact that OpenAI has slightly different rules for data protection is not discussed. Marianne Janik, CEO of Microsoft Germany, encourages all organizations to embrace the AI ​​models by training employees and exploring new features to get even more out of the technology.

ChatGPT-4 is an update of the current version of ChatGPT-3, which everyone can use since December. The biggest improvement would be the speed at which the chatbot responds. Now ChatGPT takes a moment to find an answer. The new version has a much faster response time and could also provide more “natural” and detailed answers – although OpenAI CEO Sam Altman himself dampens expectations.
