The Ministry of Digital Transformation has completed the South Western Railway renaming research.
This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Statistics.
“We are removing the traces of Russian from the names of Ukrzaliznytsia branches together. The Ukrainians have already decided how they want to rename the South-West. The name Tsentralna received the most votes. It was chosen by more than 417.2 thousand users out of more than 1.1 million votes.”
A new research on the railway is now starting in Diya. Ukrainians will be able to choose a name for the Southern branch, which covers the lands of Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, separate districts of Chernihiv, Luhansk regions.
Options include: Kharkiv railway; Slobozhan railway; Slobid railway; Eastern Railway. The poll will run until March 17.
As reported, UZ is embarking on a large-scale Ukrainianization of the railway. The company will rename the stations and change the language of the inscriptions on the trains, as well as the mileage numbering.
