Eriksen’s inspiration for the PotatoP “laptop” was his frustration with his old laptop constantly draining. Thinking that an enthusiast’s business tasks do not require a powerful computer, he decided to create his own laptop with a comfortable keyboard, good display and low power consumption.
As the motherboard, SparkFun RedBoard Artemis ATP platform with Ambiq Apollo3 chip using Arm Cortex-M4F processor with clock frequency up to 96 MHz was chosen. The enthusiast equipped the computer with 384 KB of RAM and a storage device with a capacity of 1 MB. PotatoP also offers a wide variety of interfaces and ports for connecting external peripherals.
In the end, Eriksen used a monochrome Sharp Memory in Pixel display with a diagonal 4.4 inches and a resolution of 320×240 pixels, and the Happy Hacking Keyboard Lite 2 was chosen as the keyboard.
In other words, according to Eriksen, with the help of a 12,000 mAh battery and a small solar panel, the PotatoP can last up to two years on a single charge. Enthusiast plans to expand these indicators in the future, increasing the battery life of the computer forever.
