AMD Launches Ryzen 9 7945HX, “World’s Fastest Mobile CPU”.

The Ryzen 9 7945HX is the top of the line of Ryzen 7045 HX notebook processors. AMD has just announced its availability to ensure that it does the fastest mobile CPU on the market.

At CES in January, AMD unveiled a new processor platform for laptops, the Ryzen 7000 Mobile, in direct competition with Intel’s Raptor Lake, also unveiled at the Las Vegas trade show. the platform includes five distinct series to cover the entire range.

If the low- and mid-range series contains too much “exaggeration”, combining previous CPU and GPU architectures, the Ryzen 7045 HX are completely new and are based on AMD’s latest architecture, ZEN 4, which we saw premiered in the fall. with desktop models and that AMD also expanded at CES.

Ryzen 7045HX

AMD’s most powerful notebook series is designed for the best gaming rigs and professional content creators. Codenamed “Dragon Range”, it is manufactured using 5nm technology and has all ZEN4 technology, with versions of up to 16 cores and 32 native processing threads operating at operating frequencies above 5 GHz and with an unlocked multiplier to facilitate overclocking. They include a whopping 80MB of cache (L2+L3).

They support DDR5 memories and new connection standards such as USB4, which compete with Intel Thunderbolt 4 in performance. Like the rest of the “Mobile” processors, they have integrated graphics, but only with two RDNA2 computing units. This is understandable in this product line, as this type of CPU will always be combined with dedicated graphics. Its TDP consumption is at least 55 watts and to begin with they were sold in four versions Ryzen 9, 7 and 5:

  • Ryzen 9 7945HX: 16/32 cores/threads. Frequency from 2.5 to 5.4 GHz, 80 MB cache. cTDP 55-75W
  • Ryzen 9 7845HX: 12/24 cores/threads. Frequency from 3 to 5.2 GHz, 76 MB cache. cTDP 45-75W
  • Ryzen 7 7745HX: 8/16 cores/threads. Frequency from 3.6 to 5.1 GHz, 40 MB cache. cTDP 45-75W
  • Ryzen 5 7645HX: 6/12 cores/threads. Frequency from 4 to 5 GHz, 38 MB cache. cTDP 45-75W

Ryzen 9 7945HX, the star of the series

AMD claims its flagship offering is the most powerful mobile processor on the planet. As the only one in the series, it contains 16 cores native processing (32 threads), double that of the previous generation flagship Ryzen 6000, which it outperforms by 41% to 211%.

Obviously, the Zen 4 cores provide significant performance improvements over last-gen chips, but AMD also benchmarked them against its current direct competition, the top-of-the-line Intel Core i9-13950HX laptop, which AMD says outperforms tasks such as gaming with 10% higher performance on average and winning 26 out of 31 games tested.

We’ll have to wait for third-party tests to confirm, but AMD is aiming high with this Ryzen 9 7945HX and the other three models in the lineup. The company expects its release this week on high-end gaming laptops such as ASUS Scar G17, Strix SCAR, Strix G17 and Zephyrus Duo; Alienware M16 and M18 or Legion 5 and 7 Pro from Lenovo. More gear will arrive in the coming weeks, as well as others already announced by MSI.
