Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp parent company Meta opens its first hardware store in California, US. It will open on May 9th Visitors to the store can try out and purchase Meta’s Portal video devices and Quest virtual reality glasses.

The Meta store will not only sell Meta products, but also other products along with brands. For example from last year Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses is also promoted here and can be purchased by customers online.

There will be a very extensive tasting room in the metastore

The Meta store will have a tasting room where customers can test Portal’s video calling features with a store associate. Customers can test demos of Quest 2 games such as Beat Saber, GOLF+, Real VR Fishing and Supernatural.

Customers can also try and test different styles of Ray-Ban glasses, which can record and share video with the built-in cameras, and test them before purchasing. This move by Meta follows in the footsteps of companies like Google, which opened its first store last year. If we think in terms of hardware sales, metaverse targets and this is an important step for Meta at a time when hardware and experience are becoming increasingly important.
