More than 80% of calls to cyber police are related to Internet fraud.

More than 80% of the total number of applications from citizens to the Cyber Police Department are related to Internet fraud cases.

This was announced by the head of the cyber police, Yuriy Vykhodets, in the broadcast of a nationwide telethon, Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“More than 80 percent of citizen complaints to the cyber police are related to Internet fraud, so we often work to expose these scammers,” Vykhodets said.

According to him, the most popular methods used by these scammers include selling non-existent goods, phone scams, and phishing.

At the same time, since the beginning of the large-scale war, these plans have been added to the so-called evacuation transport plans from the areas of hostilities and the rental of non-existent housing for the IDPs. , said Vykhodets. According to the head of the cyber police, in these cases, criminals get subscriptions for non-existent goods and then disappear.

When asked how often cyber police encounter so-called volunteering, he reported that most of the time, scammers make clones of well-known volunteer pages and resources and have already raised money under them. According to him, the department he heads receives many such applications and the Cyber Police Department pays attention to them and exposes the scammers.

“As in cases of countering other online fraud schemes, cyber police officers carefully check information about so-called voluntary money collections. We identify those involved in illegal acts, collect evidence and bring them to justice,” Vykhodets said.

As reported, in the Odessa region, the SBU exposed a scammer who extorted money from relatives of Ukrainian defenders who died during a large-scale war with the Russian Federation.
