The Amazon company showed images of its terminals for transmitting the Internet from a satellite. The project was called Kuiper and has been in development for the past few years. It should become an analogue and competitor of Starlink from SpaceX.
As mentioned, 3 versions of terminals with different access speeds will be available simultaneously. The basic 7-inch version provides connectivity at speeds of up to 100 Mbps, can be folded and quickly flipped if needed, and used on the go.
The second version is 11 inches. It is designed for installation in buildings and provides speeds of up to 400 Mbit/s. It is more suitable for stationary use.
The third version of the 19×30-inch terminal will provide connections at speeds of up to 1 Gbit/s. It is designed for corporate users. Prices for the terminals have not yet been announced, so it is unclear how much they will differ from Starlink in this respect.
The first 2 satellites of the Kuiper project are expected to be launched this year, with serial launches expected to begin in 2024. By the end of next year, the first users will have access to the network. The amount of the subscription fee is also still unknown.
