Netgear has the future ahead of it with the Nighthawk RS700 router for Wi-Fi 7

The Netgear Nighthawk RS700 is a good glimpse into the future of local area networks, thanks to the exceptional novelty of Wi-Fi 7 support. It will be available in the spring at a price of $700 and can already be reserved on the manufacturer’s website.

Wi-Fi 7 will be next a major upgrade to the wireless standard. Despite the relative proximity of Wi-Fi 6/6E, its arrival is closer than we thought as some large providers have “skipped” the previous standard and plan to accelerate its availability. We’ve already seen another TP-Link product preview; the introduction of the Qualcomm or MediaTek platform and Intel’s announcement of the introduction of Wi-Fi 7 in personal computers in 2024.

Another big network provider, Netgear is betting big with this RS700, which offers combined wireless performance for starters 19 Gbps. Really fantastic and enough to make you forget about wired networks altogether.

Count on one three-band design (for 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz band connections) plus four Gigabit LAN connectors with line aggregation if you want to use a cable. In addition, it has a multi-gigabit WAN port, connector High-speed internal LAN with a speed of 10 Gbpswhich don’t even support today’s home networks, and USB 3.

The router introduces features that will be exclusive to Wi-Fi 7, such as Multi-Link, where compatible devices can use multiple Wi-Fi bands (such as 5 GHz and 6 GHz) to improve signal speed and stability. It is designed for next-generation advanced tasks such as VR, remote work and cloud desktops.

In terms of design, it has an elongated chassis similar to that of some smart speakers, with 8 high-performance internal antennas with 360-degree coverage, optimized to support up to 200 simultaneous client devices in all rooms. The manufacturer states that this 3D design of the antennas together with the radio frequency circuits specially designed for this router will offer the best connection and reach up to 325 square meters.

The router comes with one year of free access to NETGEAR Armor, a security system powered by Bitdefender that provides an automatic security shield for all connected devices. Unlike traditional antivirus products, Armor is built into the router as a comprehensive security solution to monitor incoming and outgoing activity and protect all connected devices.

The Netgear Nighthawk RS700 will be available next spring for a price of 700 dollars. Nothing cheap as usual in new technologies. We expect to see Wi-Fi 7 on schedule and solutions from all manufacturers.
