President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said Ukraine’s knowledge of building a fleet of naval drones worked and he had a “conclusive result”.
Lauren Powell Jobs, an American entrepreneur, philanthropist and owner of The Atlantic magazine, said this in a meeting with the magazine’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg and publisher Anne Applebaum, citing Ukrinform with reference to the head of state’s press service.
Zelenskyy briefed the guests on the successful measures taken against Russian cyber attacks at the start of a total war and the greater involvement of Ukrainian inventors and IT specialists in the fight against invaders, especially in projects related to drones.
“We created several technologies and they worked on the battlefield. We have separate teams working. His know-how worked for us, as did the seaplane. That was a separate story and we had a definitive result there,” he said.
As Ukrinform reported, it was announced on November 11, 2022 that the world’s first 100 naval drone fleet had been created. Donations are collected through the United24 fundraising platform.
The cost of one device is 10 million UAH. The price includes: a drone equipped with an autopilot system, video subsystems, including night vision, communications protected from the influence of enemy EW devices, backup communication modules and a combat unit.
The package also includes a ground-based autonomous control station, a transport and storage system, a data center and “a few special surprises for our enemies.”
As of the beginning of March, more than 500 million hryvnia has been donated through United24 for the world’s first seaplane fleet.
