Completely change the way drivers can view up-to-date information from the car while driving, BMW innovates with head-up display. Some important information about the car, such as speed, for example, will be displayed on the windshield..
By giving the driver what it calls Panoramic Vision, BMW means drivers no longer need to take their eyes off the road to see vehicle information. The lower part of the windshield will serve as a kind of large screen for transmitting information to those who are driving..
The Panoramic Vision display will be implemented in the first models of the BMW NEUE KLASSE, a new range of vehicles with a battery and an electric motor, only from 2025. The German automaker also confirmed that the NEUE KLASSE will feature additional BMW iDrive features. However, more details will likely only be revealed at IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich in September.
Vehicle information without taking your eyes off the road
BMW Panoramic Vision allows drivers to choose which information they would like displayed on the windshield. In this way, data such as speed, car temperature, weather forecast, and even current music playback can be collected.
To make it easier for drivers to see and to make the feature really useful while the car is in motion, BMW has placed a small display at the bottom of the windshield with clearer and brighter lights that will be in charge of showing all the details. on a clear day or on a dark day.
The head-up display first impressions that BMW unveiled at CES 2023 this January used the i Vision Dee concept. However, the information will be displayed digitally right on the windshield. Panoramic Vision has a raised edge built into the bottom of the glass.
BMW has yet to confirm if the additional features introduced on the i Vision Dee will be available for production anytime soon. This includes interactive communication features, in which the German automaker claims “a natural and emotional relationship between man and machine is developed”, as well as animated facial expressions.
