how will it work

To enable 2-step verification, confirm your six-digit PIN and email address. After that, you will need to enter your PIN to log into Viber from a mobile device or computer.

If a user loses or forgets this code, they will be able to regain access to their account via email confirmation. To deactivate a Viber account on your computer, you will also need to enter a PIN.

Viber will have additional two-factor authentication / Photo Viber

What is this for?

The new Viber feature will help you further increase the security of your account and protect access to personal information. Additionally, Viber reports that the team is working on adding biometric authentication and plans to implement it in the future. This means you can protect your Messenger account by fingerprinting or scanning the user’s face.

Important safety rules

The Viber team also reminded us of some important security rules to help protect your account and protect privacy:

• Password protect your device and mobile apps. Ideally, passwords should be different for each program.
• Set up 2-step verification of accounts.
• Never leave your smartphone unattended.
• Avoid unsafe Wi-Fi networks to prevent intruders from intercepting your data.
• Set privacy on your phone and apps. Choose in Viber or share “online” status, photo, date of birth with others.
