Israel allowed two of its defense companies to sell anti-drone systems to Ukraine. This was reported by Israeli journalist Barak Ravid.

“Israel has been cautious about providing military assistance to Ukraine, fearing that such a move could create tensions with Russia and harm Israel’s security interests in Syria.‘ says the journalist.

He said the tacit approval of export licenses by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Foreign Minister Eli Cohen took place in mid-February, when Israel reviewed its war policy at the behest of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israeli and Ukrainian officials said licenses have been approved for Elbit Systems and Rafael, two Israeli companies that develop anti-drone systems. A Ukrainian official told the journalist that a delegation from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense recently visited Israel to receive a demonstration of anti-drone systems. However, the parties have not yet signed the final agreement.

The systems Israel offers to buy from Ukraine use electronic warfare to neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles. Israeli officials say the approval of export licenses does not mean a change in policy regarding military aid to Ukraine, as the systems are defensive in nature and do not use real fire that could kill Russian soldiers.

It will be recalled that in February, Israel was reported to be ready to assist Ukraine in establishing an air threat warning system for the civilian population and providing the appropriate equipment.
