The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) is working to prevent Flipper Zero from entering Brazil and selling within the country. Tech Tudo reported this Wednesday (15) that the agency wants to prevent a device capable of cloning CNF, RFID and other frequencies from being sold in the country.
The device is often used in cyber security testing, but it also contains tools that allow illegal activities such as opening car doors and garages or changing prices at gas stations.. Anatel’s actions have started a fight against importers who cannot receive goods due to lack of official permission.
The small and functional device consists of a monochrome screen 128 x 64 pixels and a button that allows you to control the functions. The device is capable of emulating RFID and cloning radio, NFC, Bluetooth, and infrared signals.

Tool used by criminals
Among its main goals, Flipper Zero stands out for conducting penetration tests, which are used to detect possible vulnerabilities in networks. In addition, it can be used in safety research and protocol development.
The decision to ban Flipper Zero from entering the country did not sit well with the international community. This is because the EFF, an American digital rights organization, has gone so far as to state that “creating, owning, or distributing tools related to security research should not be criminalized or restricted in any way.”
Anatel’s argument is that this tool ended up attracting the attention of hackers who are trying to do illegal things with Flipper Zero. Among several illegal functions it was used for, it ended up being used to trigger doorbells and unlock doors with a digital key, as revealed by Tech Tudo.
While there have been reports of successful attempts in the foreign press, many others have failed, as in the case of Wired magazine, which failed to clone a professional badge even after a week of trying.
