In the UK, the use of the Chinese application TikTok on the business phones of ministers and officials is prohibited.

As reported by Ukrinform, the BBC reported it.

“The security of confidential government information must come first,” said Oliver Dowden, UK Cabinet Secretary.

He told lawmakers on Thursday that the app was banned for security reasons.

Dowden described the move as “prudent” but “cautious” after a review by the National Cyber Security Center.

He added that the ban will not apply to the personal phones of ministers and civil servants or to the general public, as the restriction is a commensurate response to the particular risk associated with government devices.

At the same time, the UK Ministry of Defense said that they will continue to use the app to promote the work of the Armed Forces and express their support for Ukraine. The Ministry of National Defense uploaded the video of the Challenger 2 tank being delivered to Ukraine on its own account.

In response, TikTok vehemently denies accusations of handing over user data to the Chinese government.

The US banned TikTok from official devices in December. Canada, Belgium and India have taken similar measures.

As reported by Ukrinform, on March 7, the Danish Ministry of Defense, a member of NATO, banned its employees from using the app to share TikTok videos on their work phones in connection with the strengthening of security measures in cyberspace.
