The advent of ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, has made major tech companies around the world jump into the race to develop AI. Microsoft, Baidu, Amazon, Google and many more are investing in AI, which has become a big topic in 2023. Now Meta has also started to invest in this area so as not to be left behind. The company’s investment, however, must be tied to declining interest in the metaverse.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, even changed the name of the Facebook company to something that referred to the metaverse. In recent years, the CEO has made major investments in this sector, but so far has not been able to bear fruit. In fact, the only thing Meta is reaping is historical downfalls and the fact that its CEO has become an internet joke due to Mark Zuckerberg’s controversial selfie.

The owner of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp has already received information about some of his plans, such as the Llama chatbot, the company’s likely answer to ChatGPT. In addition, it is planned to introduce AI into the products offered by the company. That is, Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook should get chatbot integration.
Mar Zuckerberg claims that “Year of Efficiency” Meta, the company will focus on the development of AI.. “Meta’s biggest single investment is advancing AI and incorporating it into every one of our products,” Zuckerberg said as he laid off about 11,000 employees and recently confirmed layoffs of another 10,000 people followed by a freeze of 5,000 jobs.
The company has the necessary infrastructure to make investments on an “unprecedented scale,” he said. The Meta’s plans for the Metaverse were also very bold, but none of them worked. It remains to be seen if Zuckerberg will make the right investments this time around in an increasingly competitive market.
