Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, Specs and Keys

The giant from San Diego introduced the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, a novelty Premium mid-range SoC which boasts a high-performance configuration and which proves to be one of the best options in its category. As you might have guessed, this is the successor to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

Let’s start by looking at the CPU and we can see that the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 comes with the processor eight cores divided into a total of three blocks. The first block contains a high-performance Cortex-X2 core running at 2.91 GHz, the second block has three Cortex-A710 cores running at 2.49 GHz, and the third block has four high-efficiency Cortex-A510 cores at 1.8 GHz.

Moving on to the GPU, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 comes with a powerful gaming dedicated Adreno GPU that supports advanced technologies such as volumetric rendering, variable speed shader and Adreno Frame Motion Engine. According to Qualcomm, we can expect a 50% performance improvement at the CPU level compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 a twice the performance at the GPU level. The efficiency improvement is more discrete and can reach 13% in certain scenarios.

If we talk about sustained performance, Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 would be able to offer 65% more performance in GFXBench Manhattan 3.0. below 1080p resolution, according to Qualcomm. AI performance has also doubledand efficiency in this sense is 40% higher compared to the previous generation.

As for the rest of the keys, Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 comes with 18-bit ISP, supports sensors up to 200 MP, it supports “super definition video”, supports 4K recording with HDR, and supports advanced low-light shooting technologies. It comes with a Snapdragon X62 5G modem, supports Wi-Fi 6E and aptX Lossless Audio. Qualcomm has also included a Trust Management Engine to improve security.

Smartphones that will use this new SoC will fall into the premium mid-range category and will therefore be priced high. We don’t have specific numbers yet, but most likely they will be between 400 and 650 eurosdepending on the manufacturer and specific specifications of each terminal. This is an important detail, because in the end it can in some cases be too close to the top models, which will be a step higher in terms of performance.
