As previously reported, Zuckerberg announced that Meta would need to lay off about 10,000 people and close hiring for 5,000 vacancies.
Last November, Meta laid off about 13% of its workforce, or 11,000 people. According to Zuckerberg, these layoffs were more tied to employee productivity, and current ones are driven by financial reasons and product priorities.
