US sends Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle to Black Sea

The United States sent the RQ-4 Global Hawk reconnaissance drone to the Black Sea. According to Flightradar24, an RQ-4 Global Hawk with call sign FORTE10 entered Black Sea waters. RQ-4 took off from Sigonella Air Base near Catania, Italy.

Presumably, the American army sent a new unmanned aerial vehicle to the Black Sea region to monitor the actions of the Russian army, which began to search for the wreckage of the UAV, and to inspect the accident site. US State Department spokesman Ned Price said the US has seen signs that Russian forces are trying to retrieve the wreckage of an American drone that crashed from the bottom of the Black Sea.

It’s also possible that the drone broke into pieces when it hit the water, according to him, and that these pieces were probably submerged thousands of meters deep. Speaking on CNN, Price said the US military was “taking steps to lower its intelligence value” before the drone crashed. The previous day, the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not rule out the possibility of Russian forces conducting underwater activities in the Black Sea as part of the search for the downed US drone.

Previously, the White House had assumed that the drone, which was shot down over the Black Sea, could not be found due to the depth of the sea. As it will be remembered, on March 14, the USA had to sink the MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicle after it collided with the Russian Su-27 fighter jet. On March 17, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu presented the Su-27 fighter pilots involved in the downing of the MQ-9 Reaper over the Black Sea for the award. According to Russia’s version, the military prevented the UAV from violating “the boundaries of the zone of the temporary airspace use regime”.
