Looks like we need to talk about Windows Update again, in this case Windows 11 Moments 2, which, along with an interesting list of new features, also brings a number of problems. Recall that the deployment of this Windows update began earlier this month, but that it was this week that it arrived on Windows Update, marked as KB5023706. As you already know, this is an important difference because with this change, the update starts coming automatically to all compatible systems that have automatic updates enabled.
So, and as we have seen in other previous cases, of course the problems start to appear at the very moment when the massive deployment begins. It’s understandable, and I don’t mean to play devil’s advocate, but it’s true that even with the Windows Insider program, the pool of systems on which updates can be tested before they’re released is limited. Now it is true that Microsoft should look for some method to mitigate this problem as much as possible. Deploying in rings, expanding the beta tester team… something.
In some cases, problems associated with updates are quite limited in scope, although in other cases they can affect all users who have updated their computer. In this case with the Windows 11 Moments 2 issues, it is still too early to determine the approximate number of affected users, but given how little the initial issues started to spread, we can understand that the number of affected people is significant.
As we can read on TechSpot, Windows 11 Moments 2 issues affect PCs with Adata XPG SX8200 Pro SSDs as well as WiFi connections and can lead to blue screens. The most significant issue arising from the update is its impact on certain drives equipped with the 1TB Adata XPG SX8200 Pro SSD, and for now the issue appears to be limited to this Adata SSD model. In all cases, its performance would deteriorate to less than half of normal and the problem would disappear after uninstalling Windows 11 Moments 2. The good news is that Microsoft has already confirmed the receipt and is working on it.
But the problem with this storage is not the only one associated with Windows 11 Moments 2, because there are also users who have reported problems with the WiFi connection (mainly speed) and constant blue screens, applications that have stopped working. If you have already updated and experience any of these issues, it is best to uninstall the update. And if you haven’t taken the leap yet, maybe it’s better to let at least a few days pass before doing this.
