NetDragon Websoft Holdings Limited, the world leader in building online communities, has announced the appointment of its new CEO, Tan Yu. However, Ms. Tang Yu is no ordinary person, CEO Ms. Tang Yu is actually an artificial intelligence hired to be the director of the company.
This designation marks the first time in history that an artificial intelligence or robot has taken a leadership position in a company. The decision to appoint Ms. Tan Yu as CEO is part of NetDragon’s efforts to use artificial intelligence to transform corporate governance and take operational efficiency to a higher level.
In terms of context, NetDragon is a large Chinese tech company with a few Western IPs like Edmodo, an online education service, and games like Disney Fantasy Online, Heroes of Might and Magic Online, and Transformers Online. NetDragon is also the parent company of Jumpstart Games, which publishes games such as Jumpstart, the Blaster Learning System, and Neopets, a popular virtual pet website where users can own virtual pets called “Neopets” and buy virtual items for them for real money.
NetDragon Websoft is known in Asia for its innovative approach to technology, and this latest move further strengthens its leading position in the industry. The appointment of Ms. Tan Yu as CEO has generated considerable interest and controversy in the business community.
Ms. Tan joined NetDragon in September 2017 and was NetDragon’s Vice President until recently appointed CEO. She was deeply involved in the management of the AI + company, the strategic planning of the metaverse organization, and the projects in the company.
As CEO, Ms. Tan Yu is responsible for all the typical responsibilities of a company leader: reviewing senior analytics, making leadership decisions, assessing risks, and improving company efficiency. He can work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and should not sleep. Their salary is $0 per year, their annual bonus is zero, compared to their human counterparts who cost their respective companies millions per year.
Hustle also reported that since being appointed CEO of NetDragon, Websoft has managed to outperform the Hong Kong stock market index, with an 18.2% increase in share value compared to other Hong Kong companies. However, this isn’t the first time that AI has given humans control, as OpenAI recently revealed that GPT-4 AI is now smart enough to hire a human to solve CAPTCHAs when it realizes it can’t solve it itself.
