Asus is showing its Tinker Board 3: a small computer in the style of a Raspberry Pi, but aimed at developers and equipped with PCIe.

At four by four inches, the Asus Tinker Board 3 is slightly larger than many Raspberry Pi-like computers, which often aim for the size of a credit card. Other devices from the tinker board family are also usually smaller. The computer shield is aimed at developers who want to experiment with IoT applications.

Asus equips the Tinker Board 3 with a Rockchip RK2568. This is a quad-core processor based on the ARM Cortex A55 design. The chip also has a Mali G52 GPU on board. The thing also supports 8GB of RAM, has a microSD card reader and can handle up to 64GB of eMMC storage. Asus uses the Tinker Board’s slightly larger footprint to provide two PCIe ports and a SIM card.

The device also has HDMI, USB 3.1 Type A, USB 3.2 Type C, 3.35 mm audio and two RJ45 Ethernet on board. WiFi is of course also available. The creative minds can still get started with 40-pin and 12-pin GPIO, CAN and COM and more. Power can be supplied optionally via one of the RJ45 ports thanks to Power over Ethernet.

Asus would provide both Debian 11 and Android 12 for the Tinker Board 3. Details on price and availability are not yet known to us.
