It’s been four years since Microsoft added the Play My Emails feature to the iOS version of Outlook, its email client, in 2019. It was therefore very limited in scope when it was launched, as it could only be used from Apple devices and was also only available in English, although Portuguese was later added and it switched to an Android app in 2020. make it available to many other users.

If you don’t know, Play My Emails is a function that, depending on the time and contexts, can be especially useful because it uses Cortana (yes, Microsoft’s voice assistant has not completely disappeared) to check all new emails that we have in the Outlook inbox (it is compatible with e- email accounts Microsoft 365, Outlook and Gmail) and reads them to us one by one and offers us several actions upon completion of each one.

For whom the accumulation of unread messages in the inbox is a problem (and this is my case), the Outlook design with Play My Emails is without a doubt a great choice, as it allows us to take advantage of every possible moment. in those of us who are not in front of a computer to catch up quickly and avoid the deterrent effect when we sit at the computer (or any other device) and open the mail with several dozen pending messages.

1: This is what we see when we first enter Play My Emails. 2: general function configuration. 3: Specific settings for each account. 4: the summary that appears when the function is opened. 5: Play one of the pending emails.

Until now, as I already hinted, this feature was only available in English and Portuguese, but as the people from Redmond tell us on the official Microsoft 365 blog, from today Play My Emails in Outlook for Android and iOS is now available in Spanish and French. And I confirm that the deployment of this feature seems to be quite fast, since I was able to test this new feature after updating Outlook on my iPhone to version 4 2309.3, available since yesterday in the App Store.

Although its commissioning and operation are really simple, Microsoft has included the necessary instructions (in English, Spanish, and French) for this in its blog post. From the main interface of Outlook, it is enough to get to its main menu (by moving your finger from the left side of the screen to the right) and in the lower left part, click on the button Play my e-mails, which is represented by the classic playback icon (a right-angled triangle in a circle).

The first time you do this, you will see a setting in which You will need to specify which email accounts you want to grant access to, and in which you can also edit which emails you should read and more. From now on, every time you tap this button, Cortana will start playing your emails. And by the way, in this regard, it is best to use headphones if you are not alone, because the reproduction of emails can reveal data that you would rather not hear anyone else.
