Russia’s cyber attacks on Ukraine

• Victor Zhora, deputy head of the State Special Service, gave an example of cyber attacks that coincided with missile attacks. On March 1, the Russians attacked a television center in Dorogozhychi, Kiev. Then the hackers tried to break the mood of the entire Ukrainian telethon.
• There was also talk of a cyber-attack organized by the Russians in the first weeks of the war. Hackers have disabled the infrastructure of tens of thousands of ISPs. As a result, thousands of people were unable to access the network for several hours.
• Also, hackers tried to disrupt the functioning of a power plant in Ukraine. Had it been successful, 2 million people would have been without electricity.

There has been no large-scale attack so far.

Experts say that so far the Russians have not succeeded in launching a large-scale attack that would disrupt important sectors of the economy or communication channels. However, intelligence learned that the attacker was preparing such plans.

Journalists confirmed that experts from the White House and the US Department of Homeland Security had helped Ukrainian officials fight back against Russian cyberattacks.
