With the new Bing Microsoft seems to be running the marathon at sprint speed. A little over a month has passed since the introduction of the new version of its search engine, including the chatbot and the main star, and since then we have not stopped receiving information about new features and improvements in it constantly. If we continue at this rate, I do not rule out that by the end of the year Microsoft’s artificial intelligence will have reached self-awareness, and finally someone will tackle the really important problems of humanity and our planet.
Yes, I’m exaggerating a bit, but what cannot be denied is that the Prometheus generative AI model, which as we told you a few days ago is based on GPT-4, adds new features so often, which substantially expands what we can expect from him, and that the starting point was already quite high in this sense. And while it’s based on the latest OpenAI model, it still doesn’t support combined text and image input, at least for now, which GPT-4 provides through its API.
The generative AIs we’ve seen lately are capable of creating text, images, music and more, so if we think about the possibilities of a model that combines these features and therefore offer a unified approach to themthe result can be something really advanced, as it should also allow combining different types of outputs based on the same input data and generated outputs.
I think we still need to see something like this, but for now we are already a step ahead in this regard. And as we can read on Microsoft’s official blog, Bing chatbot will be able to create images. Yes, just like the image-generating AI we talked about so much in the second half of last month, we’ll have to tell it that we want it to create an image and give you instructions for it.
To this end, as we can read in said publication, Bing uses an advanced version of DALL-E, the OpenAI image generation AI that we’ve already talked about here. In fact, of course, it is not completely new, since it is based on Bing Image Creator, a service available from October 2022, which, as the main limitation since its launch, has so far only allowed prompts in English, despite the fact that the DALL-E 2 is able to understand Spanish . A novelty, a really interesting thing, is its integration into the chatbot.
Microsoft claims that the new feature It has already started rolling out, although it is not yet available to all users who have access to a preview of the new Bing. Of course, if you’re going to check if you already have access to it, don’t forget to configure the chatbot in creative mode, because at the moment that’s the only one it will be available in. However, Microsoft has confirmed that it intends to bring it to a balanced and accurate mode in the future as well, albeit without a date setting.
