Earlier today, we published an article about an old and persistent problem that continues to plague Windows 11 users. The error shows “Standard hardware security is not supported” even on systems fully compatible with Windows 11.

However, this is not the only security bug that worries Windows users. Microsoft has confirmed that the latest Defender update (KB5007651, version 1.0.2302.21002) released via Patch Tuesday is buggy and repeatedly displays an incorrect “Native Security Protection disabled” message prompting users to restart their device. However, after rebooting, the same message remains, no matter how many times.

Microsoft has described the issue on their health dashboard and provided a way to check if Local Security Service Protection (LSA) is enabled in the Workaround section.

After “Microsoft Defender Antivirus Platform Update – KB5007651 (version 1.0.2302.21002)” is installed, you may receive a security alert or warning that says “Local Security Protection is disabled”. Your device may be vulnerable.” and when protection is enabled, your Windows device may repeatedly ask you to reboot. Important: This issue only affects “Microsoft Defender Antivirus Platform Update – KB5007651 (version 1.0.2302.21002)”. For affected platforms (KB5023706 and KB5023698) All other Windows updates released on March 14, 2023 do not cause this issue.

detour : If you have Local Security Service Protection (LSA) enabled and restarted your device at least once, you can turn off the alert and ignore additional reboot notifications. You can verify that LSA protection is enabled by viewing the event viewer using the information found here. Important: We do not currently recommend any other workarounds for this issue.
