An update that brings Android 14 and One UI 6.0 to Samsung devices may cause some users to see ships. Portal SamMobile published a list of just over 20 cell phones that are not included in the list of devices that will receive an updated version of the operating system.
Scheduled for August this year, it may not take into account some devices that are popular among Samsung users. This is because the list provided by SamMobile states that devices like the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip won’t get Android 14. So far, the South Korean manufacturer has not commented on this issue.
However, it is important to emphasize that the information provided by SamMobile is subject to Samsung’s own software update policies. In early 2021, the company made a number of changes to its mobile phone upgrade policy.
As of February 2021, Samsung has stressed that the rules will be in place for three to four years. This will make all devices that hit the market after this date available to receive up to four versions of the operating system, while previous models will be limited to three updates.
Even with Android 13 possibly the last major update for 23 Samsung smartphones, the models are expected to receive security patches for at least a year. A brand can still release unexpected patch updates even after support has ended, which is not uncommon.
It is believed that the Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra should be the first to receive Android 14 and One UI 6.0, followed by older models and new foldable devices. In addition, One UI 5.1.1 is expected to be the interface used in Samsung’s new foldable phones.
