World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) called on the countries of the world to guarantee access to sanitation, a vital fluid, as part of the first Conference on the water for almost 50 years, since World Water Day.

Both believed that the world needed to quadruple its current rate of progress to achieve universal access to such services in order to protect health and the future of people.

According to UN agencies, at least 1.4 million people annually, many of whom are children, die for preventable reasons related to the absence of these assets.

It’s because of 2 billion people do not have drinking water and 3.6 billion (nearly half the world’s population) use sanitation services that do not treat human waste.

Added to this is the fact that half of all establishments health they have no vital fluid and soap or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer solution.

These services are key to development healthy childhood and save welfare in adulthood. They also offer a path to broader social and economic progress, they say, by keeping society healthy and productive.

With this in mind, UNICEF and WHO called on all countries to radically accelerate action to make water, sanitation and hygiene a reality for all.

To this end, they recommended the development of a plan to increase political commitment and a strategy to strengthen governance and institutions.

In addition, they called for the implementation of policy goals, increased public spending and the development of financial strategies, as well as encouraging suppliers to improve their performance, support the growth of the sector, collect data on this issue and encourage innovation and experimentation.

UN Water Conference 2023, organized jointly by governments Tajikistan And Netherlandswill be held March 22-24 in New York.

As a result, it is expected that an action program will emerge to implement this Sustainable Development Goal, and new commitments by governments.
