Nothing to advertise In-Ear Headphones (2); more expensive, with more powerful ANC and new app

Nothing announced this Wednesday (2), Nothing Ear headset (2). In a commercial with Carl Pey, co-founder of Nothing, and YouTuber Marquez Brownlee, the company unveiled the new device. The Nothing Ear (2) is more expensive at $149, with up to 36 hours of battery life and an updated smartphone app.

The new Nothing Ear (2) replaces the Ear (1) and has a very similar design. The device comes with a smaller body but is almost identical to the design of the phone. The biggest difference has to do with the buttons located on the rods that need to be tightened. On Ear (1), the temples were sensitive to touch, which was quite problematic when trying to place the device in the ear.

The device drivers have also been updated with N52 neodymium magnets (previous model had N45 magnets). The change, of course, should improve the sound quality of the sound drivers. ABOUT application Nothing Ear has been renamed to Nothing X, and will be used to manage all of the company’s devices, current and future releases. The app is available for iOS and Android and can be used to control the headset. Nothing X offers a customizable equalizer, sound profile, customizable ANC (Active Noise Cancellation), sleep mode for gamers, and can connect to two devices at the same time.

Powerful noise reduction

Another improvement of the new phone concerns ANC, with possibility up to -40 dB in the frequency range of 5 kHz. The frequency range is 2.5 times wider than Ear (1), according to the manufacturer.

This change will offer more powerful noise cancellation and a better immersive user experience. Battery life is about 36 hours (6 hours in phone + 30 hours in case) with noise cancellation off. According to Nothing active noise cancellation reduces the overall battery life of the headphones by about 10 hours. Nothing Ear (2) will be available from March 28 at a suggested retail price of $149 (R$784.80 direct).
