The creators of tech startups began refusing to hire programmers and switched to the AI chatbot ChatGPT instead of their services. This was reported by Vice.
GPT-4, the latest version of OpenAI’s large language model on which ChatGPT is built, is said to be able to create simple programs after receiving prompts written in spoken English.
Joe Perkins, founder of a financial startup to help venture capitalists, explained how he used GPT-4 to code five microservices in a new project.
An experienced developer was ready to do these services for two weeks and £5,000. “GPT-4 did the same thing in three hours and 11 cents”– stated the businessman.
“Not only did he write scripts for the services, he also gave step-by-step instructions on how to install and run them. I didn’t understand some of the code, so I asked for comments. Everything turned out to be very simple”– explained Perkins.
