This week, Windows Insiders can test build 23419 and its relatively modest list of features and changes. However, more new things are hidden “under the background” that require working with the ViveTool program or the Windows registry. One such feature is a new shortcut for the screen recording feature.

As spotted by @PhantomOfEarth (Twitter), Microsoft is testing a new key sequence or shortcut for screen recording with the Snipping Tool. Using it, you can search for the program to take a screenshot. Win+Shift+Rand a new shortcut lets you record your screen. Win+Shift+R.

Like other hidden features in early Windows builds, the new shortcut is sketchy and doesn’t work properly. Enabling Feature ID will enable Win+Shift+R, but will not allow you to start a new recording – instead you will see the standard screenshot UI. Here’s how to enable the shortcut if you want to try it yourself.

Reservation : Undeclared functions are often raw, unstable, or unusable. Therefore, you should back up your important data before experimenting with ViveTool.

How to enable new screen recording shortcut in Windows 11 build 23419?

1. Download ViveTool from GitHub and extract the files to a convenient, easy-to-find folder.
2. click Win + X and choose “Terminal (administrator)”.
3. Switch Windows terminal to command line profile using a keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + 2 or by clicking the down arrow button at the top of the window.
4. Navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files using the command CD. For example, if you placed the ViveTool in C:\Vive, type: CD C:\Vive.
5. To enter vivetool /enable /id:42063280 and bass To enter.
6. Restart the computer.

In case you missed it, researchers recently discovered a flaw in the Snipping Tool that allows you to recover deleted screenshots. Therefore, you can avoid using the application until Microsoft fixes the vulnerability.
