Phishing is a form of virtual attack that aims to obtain sensitive information through fraudulent contacts such as SMS, WhatsApp, and email. Criminals pretend to be bank employees and ask victims for confidential information. Unfortunately, many people end up falling for this type of scam due to the fact that they do not verify the veracity of the contact and fall into despair.

According to Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, phishing attacks undermine trust in the brands we use every day and are becoming increasingly difficult for even tech-savvy people to spot. That’s why Cloudflare has expanded its Zero Trust services with real-time protection against new phishing sites.

Phishing attacks undermine our trust in the brands we love and use every day, and are becoming increasingly difficult for even the most digitally savvy person to detect. Our sanity, bank accounts, and passwords should not be compromised because we misspelled the “from” field or accidentally clicked on an obscure URL.Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, said.

The report also showed that financial, technology and telecom brands are the most frequently counterfeited sectors. This is because these sectors offer unprecedented access and financial advantages that can be beneficial to attackers. Technology and telecom companies are particularly vulnerable, as phishing attacks can intercept emails and text messages used to verify a user’s identity through two-factor authentication, potentially compromising other accounts.

Given this scenario, it is important that users remain vigilant and take extra care when providing personal information. It is important to always verify the validity of a contact, never provide sensitive data by phone or email, and always check the website URL before entering any information. In addition, it is recommended to use two-factor authentication features and keep your security and anti-virus software up to date.
