Google opens public access to Bard AI Chatbot

0

Google has released the Bard AI Chatbot to the public with limited access. The chatbot will be available in the US and UK. There will be a waiting list for English access to Bard as it was previously only available to approved testers. Google described Bard as a productive AI collaboration that leverages historical data to create content. It differs from Google’s search engine, which only identifies and categorizes content for its users, as Bard will create original content.

Unlike its competitor ChatGPT, which only provides a single answer to your questions, Bard will provide multiple versions or drafts of the answer for you to choose from. After reviewing the drafts, you can ask additional questions and if you are still not satisfied with the options presented, you can ask the same question again and get a different answer from Bard. Bard also has another cool feature – a “Google it” button that will turn your query into an SEO optimized question and redirect it to Google Search.

Google says Bard can be used to increase your productivity, speed up your ideas, and fuel your curiosity. The company will gradually roll out access to Bard and plans to launch the chatbot in other language regions soon.

What is Google BARD?

Bard, which literally means storyteller, is Google’s artificial intelligence-powered experimental chatbot that can answer various queries and inquiries in conversational form. The Chatbot is designed to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Bard uses LaMDA (Language Model for Dialogue Applications), a language model built on Google’s Transformer, the neural network architecture that underlies the various productive AI programs seen today. LaMDA can predict next words in a sequence based on previous ones and encourage dialogue in a more free-flowing way than task-based responses usually allow.

Google says that right now Bard is still in an experimental stage and as soon as you sign in you’ll get a warning message that says “Bard won’t always work”. While the initial version was designed to compete with ChatGPT, it is limited to text with no images or audio responses. Bard can’t be used for complex tasks like coding, but Google is working on these features and will roll them out over time.
