Enterprises want a single, hybrid, multi-cloud platform to host applications and manage data across IT environments
The annual Enterprise Cloud Index survey shows that IT infrastructure is becoming more diverse and organizations are challenged to integrate data management and control. The majority of IT teams use more than one IT infrastructure.
This trend is expected to increase in the future. However, teams struggle with visibility of data across environments, with only 40 percent providing full visibility into where their data resides.
Since the first report in 2018, the attitude of the respondents has changed significantly towards the use of multiple IT environments. At that time, more than half of the respondents planned to one day run all workloads exclusively in a private cloud or public cloud. Most organizations now see the inevitability of running workloads in the public cloud, on-premises and at the edge.
The increasing diversity of clouds creates enormous complexity in managing application data in cloud environments. Almost all respondents say they would benefit from a unified console to manage applications and data across different environments. It goes without saying that Nutanix likes to compete in its own research, but the increasing complexity of IT systems requires general dashboards to keep track.
A total of 1,450 IT decision-makers worldwide took part in the report. You can view the full report here.
