The government supported the implementation of an experimental project for the defense procurement of domestic unmanned systems for two years.

It was highlighted by the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for Innovation in Telegram, Education, Science and Technology Development – Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukrinform reported.

“The government has launched the mass production of unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine. A truly historic decision was adopted for the victory, which will significantly accelerate the creation and supply of domestic unmanned aerial vehicles to the front, and most importantly – create conditions for the rapid development of the Ukrainian military forces. This is a truly historic decision of UAV manufacturers. “It will enable it to develop more actively, scale up, reinvest profits and compete with foreign companies. Instead of dealing with unnecessary paperwork and bureaucratic work for months, the commissioning, purchase and delivery of UAVs to the front will be accelerated,” he said.

Fedorov explained that the decision fundamentally changed the state’s approach to miltech business. Previously, profit from foreign components was 1% and profit from own goods and services was 30%. To stimulate the development of UAVs in Ukraine and attract more companies to production and increase the level of localization of components, the state increased its share of profits to 25%.

“A month ago, we have already eliminated the problem of expert control of dual-purpose goods by adopting fast tracking for drones. And now we can officially say that the Army of Drones project has evolved from a conditional voluntary project to a large-scale government program to support the development of the local UAV market. This is to victory. and it is a direct path to saving the lives of the defenders,” Fedorov summed up.

In turn, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov added that the independence of the Military Industry is one of the factors of the country’s defense capability. “We cannot lag behind the world. In the autumn of 2022, we achieved a radical simplification of the procedure for the adoption of anti-tank weapons in the army. Today we took this important decision,” the minister said.

He reminded the Ministry of Defense that they received applications for 75 UAVs of various types from Ukrainian manufacturers. 16 state contracts were signed with Ukrainian UAV manufacturers. And in 2023, the Ministry of Defense will increase the supply of UAVs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, planning to allocate about 20 billion UAH for this.

As stated in the press service, the adopted resolution aims to simplify all bureaucratic procedures and create favorable conditions for domestic UAV manufacturers to start mass production.

The Ministry of Defense also stressed that the government’s decision will allow domestic manufacturers to develop and compete with foreign companies, conclude contracts, carry out product acceptance, acceptance into operation and supply to the front under a simplified procedure, while also creating conditions for incentives. To do business in the field of UAV production and attract as many companies as possible to process.

As reported, after consultations with the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense signed 16 state contracts with Ukrainian UAV manufacturers. In 2023, the Ministry of Defense plans to allocate about 20 billion UAH to this segment.
