The Greater London Authority (GLA) said on Saturday that the restriction was implemented because it takes information security extremely seriously.
It was previously reported that both houses of the British Parliament decided to ban TikTok for security reasons.
The use of Chinese apps on business phones of ministers and civil servants is also banned in the UK.
TikTok has also been banned on official devices in the US, Canada, Belgium, India, Denmark, Czech Republic, and New Zealand. A similar ban is planned in the Netherlands.
TikTok vehemently denied accusations of giving user data to the Chinese government.
