In January-February 2023, the government computer emergency response team CERT-UA, operating within the State Intelligence Agency, processed more than 300 cyber incidents and cyber attacks, almost half of it compared to the same period last year.
As reported by Ukrinform, the State Special Communications Service reported this on Telegram.
“In January-February 2023, the CERT-UA State Computer Emergency Response Team operating within the State Special Communications Service processed more than 300 cyber incidents and cyber attacks. This is almost half compared to the same period last year, the report states. “At a time when the US is preparing for a full-scale invasion and hacker activity is abnormally high,” it said.
As experts noted, in January 2023, the activities of cybercriminals decreased somewhat. This is probably related to the New Year holidays period on the enemy. However, in February, the hackers returned to their usual levels of activity.
Since the beginning of this year, CERT-UA has recorded an increase in the number of espionage attacks, with an emphasis on maintaining continued access to the organization. And even among malware distributed by Russian hackers, programs for data collection and remote access to users’ devices predominate. This may be one of the signs that Russia is preparing for a long war. With the help of hackers, he is trying to obtain all kinds of information that can give an advantage in a conventional war against our country, from mobilization data to revealing the secrets of the logistics of Western weapons.
As reported by Ukrinform, Russian hackers carry out an average of more than ten cyberattacks on Ukraine every day.
