Acronis introduces a new security solution that detects advanced threats using Intel Threat Detection Technology hardware acceleration.

Acronis extends its protection capabilities by integrating Intel Threat Detection Technology. (TDT). Intel TDT enables hardware acceleration of security workloads. This is done via the integrated graphics component of modern Intel chips.

Acronis will use TDT to detect advanced fileless threats. These are threats that live only in memory and are therefore difficult to detect. Thanks to TDT, the Acronis solution can now detect such threats without putting too much strain on the CPU ak. The company itself claims that the CPU load is reduced by a factor of 2.4 by entrusting the workload to the integrated GPU. This must be felt by an endpoint’s user during scans.

“Over the past year, we have seen that almost 50% of all detected attacks were fileless,” said Patrick Pulvermueller, CEO of Acronis. The integration of TDT thus encounters a current problem. “The use of this Intel technology is a milestone in optimizing and expanding our anti-malware engine.”

The TDT functionality is part of the Intel vPro platform. The announcement by Acronis is therefore no coincidence: Intel launched vPro for its latest Raptor Lake processors at the end of last week. The security company integrates the new capacity into its existing solutions.
