Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has been available for a long time in trial mode, which allowed us to enjoy all its content for just one euro. It is clear that this type of promotion is the “hook” that attracts users to the servicebecause as soon as the monthly promotion for one euro ends, the regular fee will start to be charged unless the user opts out.

The truth is that the promotion was very interesting and that we could use it and enjoy a large number of games for a month for only one euro, but unfortunately Microsoft has decided to quit. We will no longer be able to get the trial version of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for one euro, and this is confirmed by Microsoft itself.

Kari Perez, head of global communications for the Xbox division, said:

“We have completed the introductory offer for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass and are evaluating various marketing promotions for new members in the future.”

That leaves us with the bad news we’ve already said, and it’s the end of this one-euro promotion, but it also leaves us with the good news, which is that Microsoft is study new offers to continue attracting new users. We don’t have details on what these offers will be, but there are many interesting options, such as offering discounts for several months or even significantly reducing the purchase price of a long-term subscription.

For the avoidance of doubt, and to avoid unwarranted fears and rumours, Microsoft has confirmed that it has no plans to raise the price of Game Pass if it succeeds in completing its purchase of Activision Blizzard, which as we recently told you approaching.

Now we can only wait to see what new strategy Microsoft will use, if it will be different depending on each market and each country, which certainly seems very likely. Personally, I think it could be the most effective a special purchase offer for the first subscription of three months, six months or twelve months, which significantly reduces the total price.
