Russian hackers attack Polish government websites

Hackers linked to Russian special services attacked a number of Polish government websites last weekend.

According to Ukrinform, citing PAP, these include the website of the Polish military counterintelligence service and the website of the Polish military defense company Dezamet SA, where ammunition will be produced for the needs of the Armed Forces.

“Almost every day, we make various attempts to block important websites of government agencies or state-related institutions. “This activity is carried out mainly by hackers working for Russia, but using very primitive tools,” said Stanislav Zharyn, spokesman for the special services coordination minister.

According to him, we are talking about DDoS attacks or attempts to block the operation of various Internet pages.

“Such attacks are carried out by groups working for the Russians, such as Killnet or NoName057. These are hacking teams controlled by Russian special services that are waging a cyberwar against the West, especially Poland,” Zharyn said.

Recently, Polish military counterintelligence acknowledged that there were short-term problems with the operation of its website, but the problem was quickly neutralized. According to him, this can be perceived as a response to the effective work of Polish counterintelligence, which has recently neutralized the regular actions of Russian intelligence in Poland.

According to the news of the Polish media organ Fakt, the hacker attack on Polish state institutions was to be carried out by the Russian hacker group Phoenix. The targets of the hacker attack were also the sites of the National Judicial Council, the Polish Tax Administration, and the Dezamet SA initiative, which plans to establish ammunition production for the Armed Forces.

As reported, Dezamet SA business in Nowy Demba of Podkarpackie Voivodeship (on the Ukrainian border – ed.) will be visited by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and European Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton.
