Tomorrow is the day many are waiting for. After an occasional delay in its launch, The Last of Us Part I is now on sale and we can finally enjoy it one of the best and most iconic titles to accompany Sony for many years now. Plus, it arrives wrapped up in the recent success of its HBO Max series adaptation, which has been one of the biggest hits of recent years.

In this way, we’re seeing the next step in Sony’s plans to bring some of its great exclusive titles to PC, a policy that those of us who prefer PC over console gaming (with all due respect to them, of course I’m just talking about personal preferences ).

A few weeks ago we published the technical requirements of The Last of Us Part I, but in addition to reproducing them (and in some cases fixing them, as incredible as it may seem), we also analyzed them. Because? Well, because in some cases these lists, which at first glance look like just an enumeration of components and capacities, to hide some questionable practices by those who published them, be they developers or distributors. And it seems we weren’t wrong.

In the past few hours, various media outlets have picked up a presence on the Steam Deck website a promo for Valve’s portable console where you can see The Last of Us Part I running on the portable. More specifically, on the console shown at the top of the page, whose screen plays small video clips from some of the games, we see a recognizable image in the first frame, which is none other than Ellie interacting with a giraffe. you can also see at the beginning of this news.

This is undoubtedly excellent news for Steam Deck owners who want to enjoy The Last of Us Part I on their console because Valve wouldn’t have included the game in said image if it weren’t for the fact that it was fully compatible with it.. The game’s store page still doesn’t show its Steam Deck compatibility, but we can imagine the note it will show when it’s finally released.

This shows, as my partner Isidro already portrayed in the analysis of the requirements of The Last of Us Part I, that Sony artificially inflated the technical requirements of the gamewith the intention of projecting the image that the hardware of its console (on which the said title runs) is comparable to that suggesting that it must be enjoyed on PC, which has long been more than discredited.

Inflating the requirements may serve to reinforce the mistaken belief of the minority, that is, those who still believe that the benefits of the current PC are comparable to this generation of consoles, but on the contrary, it also acts as a deterrent. for all those who want to play it but have, for example, “only” eight gigabytes of RAM, an insufficient amount based on Sony’s published requirements. AND I can’t help but wonder if what they gain on the one hand they lose on the other.
