A group of researchers from Japan found that the use of oxygen with the addition of hydrogen increases the survival rate of patients with cardiac arrest.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by NHK.
Suzuki Masaru, professor at Keio University’s Institute for Global Studies, said he was surprised by the results that exceeded expectations.
According to the scientists, the survival rate of patients who fell into a coma due to cardiac arrest and received only oxygen after 90 days was 61%. Meanwhile, among those who inhaled oxygen with a hydrogen content of two percent, this figure was 85%.
It was noted that 46% of people who received an oxygen-hydrogen mixture recovered without consequences, while this was the case in patients who were given only oxygen.
Scientists assure that the side effects of the new method have not been detected so far.
Masaru added that inhalation with the addition of hydrogen does not require a lot of equipment, and stated that he intends to bring this method to a large number of patients.
As Ukrinform reports, scientists from Kharkiv have created a device for the early diagnosis of diseases of the cardiovascular system.
