Do you only need satellite internet for a certain period of time? You can now rent the expensive receiver for 15 euros a month.

Starlink has been available in Belgium and the Netherlands since the end of 2021 as an alternative to an internet connection in places with poor or no internet access. Originally the offering was launched with a focus on consumers, but today you can also turn to Starlink for more bandwidth for businesses.

The new rental offer available with us today focuses on private use or (very) small businesses. Instead of paying 300 euros for the hardware, you can rent it for 15 euros per month. There is a one-time activation fee of 50 euros. The subscription price remains at 80 euros per month. All of the above prices include the statutory value-added tax.

Companies can’t rent anything yet and today have to pay 2,850 euros excluding VAT for the hardware to get higher internet speeds to guarantee dozens of employees a powerful connection. The monthly subscription varies between 218 euros for 1 TB internet volume and 1,283 euros per month for 6 TB. All prices are exclusive of VAT.

SpaceX today has something for everyone with roaming options for those who don’t want a Starlink internet connection in a fixed location. Elon Musk’s missile company also has a lot of ambition in the maritime and aviation sectors, with separate (very expensive) subscriptions and special receivers.

Finally, there is also the Internet of Things (IoT) called ‘Swarm’, where in the near future it will be possible to connect IoT projects to an Internet connection via satellite. You can already buy a compact receiver to integrate into a project for $89 each. A “Swarm” development kit can be ordered for $449 from the project website.
