Nashville shooter bought gun despite being treated for ’emotional disorder’

A man who attacked a school in Nashville, Tennessee and killed three adults and three children had at his disposal seven legally purchased handgunsdespite being treated for an “emotional disorder”.

Nashville Metropolitan Police Chief John Drake gave new details on Tuesday about the incident yesterday. 28-year-old Audrey Hale is officially recognized as a transgender woman.although she referred to herself as “he” on social media.

Hale legally bought at least seven guns from various shops in the city, which he hid in his house, and he attacked the school with three of thempistol and two assault rifles, after which he was shot dead by police.

According to Drake, Hale was “under medical supervision” for some time. “emotional disorder”. His own parents, questioned by the police, believed that he “shouldn’t own a gun” but believed that he had already sold one gun and “has no more”.

No one reported that Hale had a firearm, so there was no way for the police to seize it.

“If it was reported that he was suicidal or that he was going to kill someone, and they informed us about it, we would try to get those gunsbut as it stands, we had no idea who that person was,” Drake said.

The Nashville police released on Tuesday a video of the moment in which officers shot Hale to deathafter he killed three nine-year-old children and three adults after just over ten minutes in Covenant Schoolprivate Christian center where he studied.

The video, filmed through the body camera of one of the agents, shows the actions of the police for six minutes from the moment the troops arrived on the scene until they finally killed Hale.

There have been at least 30 firearm incidents reported in schools in the United States this year. 8 killed and 23 woundedaccording to Everytown for Gun Safety.
