A journalist from Jaboatão dos Guararapes, in the Recife metropolitan area, found himself in an unusual situation when he bought an iPhone for his father through Amazon. Instead of Eduardo Sena’s mobile phone received a box with the Three Little Pigs puzzle game.

The incident happened on Monday (20) and the delivery of the cell phone was scheduled for Saturday (25). Upon opening the box, Eduardo was surprised by the children’s puzzle and decided to contact Amazon to request a cancellation.
“My father always consults with me when buying any equipment over the Internet. He doesn’t have a credit card or a Pix. He was looking forward to it because it will be his first iPhone.“, Eduardo explained in an interview with Folha de Pernambuco. Before buying, the father asked the journalist if this purchase was safe, and he answered in the affirmative.
Eduardo said he contacted Amazon to try to get the money back, but didn’t get a concrete answer. “[Um atendente] stayed on the line with me, emailed me pictures and said someone would contact me in seven days.“, he decided.
After receiving no response from the company, Eduardo decided to post the incident on social media and demand a posting from Amazon. “There was no answer. I took it and posted it on Instagram, made some noise on social networks, the duty officer spoke to me. Yesterday, at about 22:30, they received a letter asking for three to five working days, but they didn’t say what to do, but they are investigating, conduct an official investigation,” the journalist said.
Eduardo said that if the situation is not resolved, he does not rule out going to court to resolve the problem. He also noted that he first encountered such a problem when buying goods via the Internet.
Second case in less than a week
This is the second time in less than a week that Amazon customers in the state of Pernambuco have bought an iPhone and received a different product. On March 18, biomedical doctor Lucas Portela, who lives in Recife, received home perfume for babies instead of the desired mobile phone.
Like Eduardo Sena, Lucas contacted Amazon to resolve the issue and was instructed to return the item to the post office to evaluate a possible return. The cases resonated on social media and highlighted the importance of being careful when shopping online and paying attention to the companies’ customer service.
