Adoption of the latest AM5 processor platform has been slow, and that makes sense given that the first processors and motherboards shipped They were intended for high-end, quite expensive. In addition, DDR5 memories, mandatory on this platform, are also new and increase the investment cost. The new Ryzen 7000 processors (not X) and the AMD A620 chipset should be a good solution for users who want the latest from the company at a lower price.
The AM5 platform is a safe value for building a high-end PC. Introduced almost a year ago at Computex, it was well liked, and it is certain that AMD will take a big bite out of Intel’s share of desktop computers. That’s the problem what has happened so far requires a large investment. The X670/E motherboards are impressive, but they cost quite a bit, as do the higher-end Ryzen 7000s. Add in high-frequency DDR5 memory capable of taking advantage of the platform, cooling systems and power at its height, and you’ll see the price skyrocket.

Therefore, it is important that prices come down (as they already do) and especially that the rest of the solution for this platform enters the retail channel. This is where ASRock’s A620M-HDV/M.2 motherboard comes in. Spotted by VideoCardz, it’s the first we’ve seen in actual footage. with what will be the cheapest chipset.
The manufacturer is committed to the format Micro-ATX which comes close to this chipset and saves with a cheap 3+1+1 phase voltage regulation module (VRM). While it won’t be overclockable, you can fit any processor in the line including the latest, the 7000X3D with “3D Vertical Cache” technology, which aren’t exactly overclockable and don’t need a powerful VRM.
The board reduces the number of DIMM slots to two from the usual four, although it will still support plenty of DDR5 memory. Plate it also does not support PCIe 5.0, neither on graphics nor on storage. It shouldn’t be a problem at the moment either. Gen5 graphics cards don’t exist yet and SSDs are slow to arrive, still very few and far between, and PCIe 4.0 SSDs are a guarantee.
In terms of expansion options, it has a PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2-2280 slot, an M.2-2230 slot for Wi-Fi adapters, two SATA ports and two PCIe x1 ports. It is also equipped with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, GbE Ethernet LAN, four USB 2.0/3.0 Type-A ports and audio connectors.
More than adequate for many usage scenarios, the ASRock A620 will have other major advantages, its low price which, if it lives up to AMD’s promises not to exceed $125. If you combine it with a non-X-series Ryzen 7000, you can build an AM5 PC for a good price.
