Tourism revenues in the first quarter, which consists of January, February and March, increased by 122.4 compared to the same quarter of the previous year to reach $5 billion 454 million 488 thousand. 76.5 of the tourist revenues (excluding roaming charges for mobile phones and marina services) came from foreign visitors and 23.5 from civilian visitors residing abroad.

Visitors organize their trips with personal or package tours. Personal expenses made up $4 billion 852 million 137 thousand of spending in the quarter, and package travel expenses were $602 million 350 thousand.

All types of spending increased in this quarter compared to the same quarter last year. While spending on sports, education and culture rose by 306.6, spending on package holidays (the share that remained in our country) increased by 287.7 and spending on international transport by 135.9.

The average spend per night was $68

In this quarter, the average nightly spending of foreigners staying overnight was $75, while the mean nightly spending of citizens staying abroad was $51.

The number of visitors increased by 148.1 compared to the same quarter of the previous year

The number of visitors leaving our country increased by 148.1 in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, reaching 6 million 451 thousand 657 people. 76.6 of them were foreigners with 4 million 943 thousand 964 persons, and 23.4 of them were citizens living abroad with 1 million 507 thousand 693 persons.

In this quarter, foreign visitors visited our country with a score of 52.1, mainly for “travel, entertainment, sports and cultural activities”.

“Visiting family and friends” was in second place with 24 and “shopping” in third place with 10.1. Citizens residing abroad, on the other hand, mainly came to our country with the aim of “visiting relatives and friends” with 62.4.

Tourism spending increased by 181.3 compared to the same quarter of the previous year

Tourism spending, which consists of the expenses of our citizens living in the country and visiting other countries, increased by 181.3 compared to the same quarter of the previous year and reached 664 million 989 thousand dollars. Of this, 623 million dollars 265 thousand were personal and 41 million 724 thousand dollars were package travel expenses.

Citizens going abroad increased by 269.6 compared to the first quarter of 2021

The number of citizens visiting abroad in this quarter increased by 269.6 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, reaching 1 million 39 thousand 666 people. Their average expenditure per person was $640.
